Members of the Thirteenth Dáil - Con Lehane

Con Lehane (1911 – 18 September 1983) was a left-wing nationalist, a 1930s member of the IRA Army Council, solicitor and politician. He was elected to Dáil Éireann as a Clann na Poblachta Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South–Central constituency at the 1948 general election. He lost his seat at the 1951 general election. He may have been the son of Socialist Party of Great Britain founder member Con Lehane (1877–1919).

    3. I would like to contact also. Con Lehane was the family solicitor for my grandfather Eugene Smyth, the source of the Castle Documents. Denis, Con's father was a housemate of Eugene's and they and a third housemate, James O'Hegarty, filled out their 1901 census in Irish and English.I cannot seem to find a way to log onto this site but my e-mail is niallfromdublin@yahoo.com

    4. I was wondering if any of the correspondents to this topic on Con Lehane might have any information about my uncle Seán 'Jack' Keating who was a colleague of Con in the IRA during the 1930s and his friend. Jack spent some time in Canada and in the USA after the Civil War. After Jack left the IRA in 1939 he worked in England. I have only a faint memory of Con and uncle Jack visiting Jack's parents [my grandparents] in Ardmore, Co Waterford in the years immediately after the 2nd World War. Jack died in the Mater Hospital while undergoing an operation in 1949. Con was also a friend of Jack's sister Mary and her husband Charlie Sheehan and the two men used to do a comic turn at Keating family gatherings when I was a kid.
